The history of Chopard Watches began in 1860, when Swiss watchmaker Louis-Ulysse Chopard, then just 24 years old, acquired notoriety worldwide for his innovative and unique creations. But the story of Chopard Watches also starts from Sonvilier, a quaint Swiss village located in the Bernese Jura region, because this hamlet has always been the beating heart of watchmaking. During the golden age, Sonvilier was home to 15 independent artisans who made their exquisite creations with passion and love. Of them all, Chopard always stood out for his highest quality standards.

In 1937, with Paul-Louis, son of Louis-Ulysse, at the helm, the Company made a big leap, moving from Sonvilier to Geneva. It was moving forward, though without ever forgetting tradition and the paternal teachings. Geneva…the world’s capital of state-of-the-art watchmaking.

After several challenging years, the Chopard fashion house was acquired by the Scheufele family from Pforzheim (Germany), which boasted a long pedigree of watchmakers and jewelers. To this day, Chopard Watches is distinctively a family-run company, and an international leader for its superior quality products.
