Tag Heuer Carrera: the car racing watch

Created in 1963, the Tag Heuer Carrera is one of the most famous models of the brand. The name of the collection is inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, the gruelling road race organized between 1950 and 1954 in Mexico, which became legendary for its length and dangerous course.

The watch had everything it needed to become the pride of motor racing: a precise and perfect chronograph, ideal for timing the racing times of cars on the circuit. The dial had perfect legibility, a detail that Jack Heuer particularly cared about: to make it wider, without sacrificing the compact size of the watch, the company created a flat dial.

Today the Tag Heuer Carrera, in the Sport Chrono version, is characterized by a 44 mm diameter steel case, with a ceramic bezel with tachymeter scale, with a renewed and more modern font. The bevelled sapphire crystal is integrated into the profile, while the dial has a circular satin finish, clearly legible, with the 3D counters in the “azuré” decoration. The faceted lugs are short and the bracelet thin, so as to offer maximum comfort on the wrist.
