The Lange 1 by A. Lange & Sohne immediately created a stir upon its debut in 1994: its asymmetric layout, unusual off-centre dial layout and outsized date display instantly rendered this model unique, proving divisive among watch aficionados.

Nevertheless, its aesthetics is underpinned by outstanding technical innovation and ability: a movement crafted in-house, in keeping with the very best Saxon tradition, accompanied by a twin barrel capable of giving up to three days’ power reserve.

From its conception to the present day, the watch’s exquisite design continues to win over new admirers. Confirmation of its popularity is found in the new Lange 1 25th Anniversary edition, created in 2019 to celebrate the collection’s 25-year anniversary.

From a design point of view, the new Lange 1 remains unchanged, with a white gold housing, a multi-level solid silver dial, blued steel hands and deep blue numerals and other markers. Mechanically speaking however, the watch has been fully updated, with a self-winding calibre, crafted in-house, and a cutting-edge balance spring which guarantees optimum regularity of movement. Another original feature is the “precision jumping” outsize date display, which leaps into action with total accuracy at the stroke of midnight.

The build quality comprehensively demonstrates this Saxon watchmaker’s craftsmanship, incorporating German Silver three-quarter plate, a micrometric swan’s neck regulator, gold chatons, Glashütte ribbing and even a hand-engraved and enamelled balance cock featuring a commemorative design.
